How to find the centre of a circle when given three points?
Circles are very important shapes with many interesting properties. They are used in various fields of engineering, architecture and science. Among many properties of a circle, there is an interesting property in which we can find the centre of the circle by using three given points. Let's see how.
Let us understand with the help of the explanation given below.
Solution:
We are given 3 points A, B and C at random which can be used to form a circle.
To find the centre of the circle:
⇒Step 1: Join the points to form two lines as shown below
⇒Step 2: Draw the perpendicular bisectors of both lines.
⇒Step 3: Mark the point where they cross each other, as the centre of the circle.
Thus draw two straight lines joining the three given points and draw the perpendicular bisector for each of the lines. The point where the bisectors meet is the centre of the circle.
