Multiples of 16 Solved Examples
-
Example 1: Ron visits his grandparents living in the countryside every 16th day. If he visited them on the 1st of July, on which date of the next month will he visit them again?
Solution:
Ron visited his grandparents on the 1st of July.
Visiting every 16th day means, the days that follow the pattern of multiples of 16
The date of his next visit will be after 16 days, i.e., 1 + 16 = 17th of July, which is in the same month.
The date of his following visit will be again after 16 days, 17 + 16 = 33
Since July has 31 days, ( 33 - 31 = 2), his next visit will be on the 2nd of August.
Therefore, he will visit them on the 2nd of August. -
Example 2: Can you help Amy find the largest four-digit multiple of 16?
Solution:
The largest four-digit number = 9999
Multiple of 16 is a number divisible by 16
On dividing 9999 by 16
The quotient we will get is 624
The remainder we will get is 15
The largest four-digit multiple of 16 = 9999 - Remainder = 9999 - 15 = 9984
Hence, the largest four-digit multiple of 16 = 9984
