Given, x² + (a + b)x + ab = (a + b) (x + ab)

LHS = x² + (a + b)x + ab

Using the distributive property, we get

= x² + ax + bx + ab

= x(x + a) + b(x + a)

= (x + a) (x + b) ← standard identity

Here

RHS = (a + b) (x + ab)

LHS ≠ RHS
