Write the following statement in the form of algebraic expression and write whether it is monomial, binomial or trinomial. Three times of p and two times of q are multiplied and then subtracted from r
Solution:
Given, three times of p and two times of q are multiplied and then subtracted from r.
We have to express the statement in algebraic form and classify it.
Three times of p = 3 × p
= 3p
Two times of q = 2 × q
= 2q
Three times of p and two times of q are multiplied = 3p × 2q
Now, three times of p and two times of q are multiplied and then subtracted from r = r - (3p × 2q)
= r - 6pq
Therefore, the algebraic expression is r - 6pq
The expression contains two unlike terms.
Expression with two unlike terms is called a 'Binomial’.
Therefore, r - 6pq is a binomial.
