Write the following statement in the form of algebraic expression and write whether it is monomial, binomial or trinomial. Sum of the products of a and b, b and c and c and a
Solution:
Given, sum of the products of a and b, b and c and c and a.
We have to express the statement in algebraic form and classify it.
Product of a and b = a × b
= ab
Product of b and c = b × c
= bc
Product of c and a = c × a
= ac
Now, sum of the products of a and b, b and c and c and a = ab + bc + ac
Therefore, the algebraic expression is ab + bc + ac
The expression contains three terms
Expression with three unlike terms is called a 'Trinomial’
Therefore, ab + bc + ac is a trinomial.
