Work out the surface area of the T shaped figure given below (use π= 3.14).
Solution:
The surface Area of the above figure = 2 × (Surface Area of 1) + (Surface Area of 2)
Surface Area 1 = 2 × (4 × 1 + 3 × 1 ) = 14 cm²(surface 1 is on the backside also
Surface Area 2 = 2 × (4 × 1 + 1 × 1) - 1 = 10 cm²
Surface Area 3 = 2 × (3 × 1) = 6 cm²
The Total Surface Area = 14 + 10 + 6 = 30cm²
✦ Try This: Find the total surface area of the given solid shape:
The surface Area of the above figure = Surface Area of 1 + Surface Area of 2
Surface Area 1 = 2 × (7 × 2 + 6 × 2) = 52 cm²
Surface Area 2 = 2 × (7 × 2 + 2 × 2) = 36 cm²
Surface Area 3 = 2 × (6 × 2) = 24 cm²
The Total Surface Area = 52 + 36 +24 = 112cm²
