Which of the points P(0, 3), Q(1, 0), R(0, -1), S(-5, 0), T(1, 2) do not lie on the x-axis
a. P and R only
b. Q and S only
c. P, R and T
d. Q, S and T
Solution:
We know that if the point is of the form (x, 0) it means that the y coordinate is zero
(x, 0) means that the point will lie on the x axis
The points given are P(0, 3), Q(1, 0), R(0, - 1), S(-5, 0), T(1, 2)
From these points P (0, 3), R (0, -1) and T (1, 2) is not zero
So these points do not lie on the x-axis
Therefore, the points P, R and T do not lie on the x-axis.
✦ Try This: Which of the points P(1, 0), Q(0, 6), R(2, 0), S(-4, 0), T(3, 2) do not lie on the x-axis? a. P and R only, b. Q and T only, c. P, R and T, d. Q, S and T
We know that if the point is of the form (x, 0) it means that the y coordinate is zero
(x, 0) means that the point will lie on the x axis
The points given are P(1, 0), Q(0, 6), R(2, 0), S(-4, 0), T(3, 2)
From these points Q(0, 6) and T (3, 2) is not zero
So these points do not lie on the x-axis
Therefore, the points Q and T do not lie on the x-axis.
