Solution:

We will be using the concepts of inequalities to solve this.

(a) 0.3 or 0.4
We know that, 0.3 = 3/10, 0.4 = 4/10 and 3/10 < 4/10.
Thus, 0.4 is greater than 0.3

(b) 0.07 or 0.02
As we know, 0.07 = 7/100, 0.02 = 2/100 and 7/100 > 2/100
Thus, 0.07 is greater than 0.02.

(c) 3 or 0.8
3 is greater than 1 and 0.8 is lesser than 1.
Hence, 3 is greater than 0.8.

(d) 0.5 or 0.05
0.5 can also be written as 0.50.
Hence, 0.50 = 50/100, 0.05 = 5/100.and 50/100 > 5/100,
Hence, 0.5 > 0.05

(e) 1.23 or 1.2
As 1.23 = 123/100, 1.2 = 12/10 = 120/100 and 123/100 > 120/100
Hence, 1.23 > 1.2

(f) 0.099 or 0.19
As 0.099 = 99/1000, 0.19 = 190/1000 and 190/1000>99/1000
Thus, 0.19 > 0.099.

(g) 1.5 or 1.50
As 1.5 = 15/10 = 150/100, 1.50 = 150/100.
The values obtained are equal, so 1.5 = 1.50.

(h) 1.431 or 1.490
We know that, 1.431 = 1431/1000, 1.490 = 1490/1000 and 1431/1000 < 1490/1000
Thus, 1.490 > 1.431.

(i) 3.3 or 3.300
3.3 can be expressed as 3.3 = 3.300 = 3300/1000, 3.300 = 3300/1000
Since their values are equal, 3.3 = 3.300.

(j) 5.64 or 5.603
5.64 = 5.640 = 5640/1000, 5.603 = 5603/1000 and 5640/1000 > 5603/1000
Hence, 5.64 is greater than 5.603.
