Use the Fig. 9.57 showing the layout of a farm house: What is the area of land used to grow hay?
Solution:
From the figure
Length of portion used to grow hay = 17.8 m
Breadth of portion used to grow hay = 10.6 m
We know that
Area of a rectangle = length × breadth
Substituting the values
= 17.8 × 10.6
= 188.68 m²
Therefore, the area of land used to grow hay is 188.68 m².
✦ Try This: A circular pond is surrounded by a 1 m wide circular path. If outer circumference of circular path is 22 m, find the inner circumference of the circular path. Also find area of the path. Use the Fig. 9.57 showing the layout of a farm house: What is the area of land used to grow hay?
