Two complementary angles differ by 20°. Find the angles

Solution:

Let one of the complementary angles be x

Then the other complementary angle be (x + 20).

x + (x + 20) = 90

2x + 20 = 90

2x = 90 - 20

x = 70/2

x = 35

Hence, x + 20 = 55

Thus, the two complementary angles are 35° and 55°.

Then the other complementary angle be (x + 36).
