There are _______ number of rational numbers between two rational numbers.
Solution:
If the numerator and denominator of a rational number are multiplied or divided by a non-zero integer, we get a rational number which is said to be equivalent to the given rational number.
Infinite number of rational numbers can be inserted between two rational numbers.
For example, consider 1/10 and 9/10
Between these numbers, we can insert other rational numbers like 2/10, 3/10, 4/10,......8/10
On multiplying numerator and denominator by 10,
10/100 and 90/100
We can insert other rational numbers like 11/100, 12/100, 13/100, …………..89/100
Therefore, there are infinite numbers of rational numbers between two rational numbers.
✦ Try This: Find the sum of 2/3 and 5/3
We have to find the sum of 2/3 and 5/3
2/3 + 5/3 = (2 + 5)/3
= 7/3
Therefore, the sum is 7/3
