The volume of a cube is 64 cm³. Its surface area is
(a) 16 cm²
(b) 64 cm²
(c) 96 cm²
(d) 128 cm²
Solution:
The volume of a cube of side ‘s’ = s³
The given volume is 64cm³, hence
s³ = 64
s³ = 4 × 4 × 4
s = 4
Surface area of a cube = 6s²
Surface area of cube = 6(4)² = 6 ×16 = 96cm²
Answer is (c )
✦ Try This: The volume of a cube is 216 cm³. Its surface area(a) 16 cm², (b) 64 cm², (c) 96 cm², (d) 216 cm²
The volume of a cube of side ‘s’ = s³
The given volume is 216 cm³, hence
s³ = 216
s³ = 6 × 6 × 6
s = 6
Surface area of a cube = 6s²
Surface area of cube = 6(6)² = 6 × 36 = 216 cm²
Answer is (d)
