The correct option is (a)
Given, (7-1 - 8-1)-1 - (3-1 - 4-1)-1
Using laws of indices, For any non-zero integer a, am = 1/a-m
7-1 - 8-1 = (1/7 - 1/ 8) = [(8 - 7)/56] = 1/56
∴ (7-1 - 8-1)-1 = (1/56)-1 = 56
3-1 - 4-1 = (1/3 - 1/4) = [(4 - 3)/12] = 1/12
∴ (3-1 - 4-1)-1 = (1/12)-1 = 12
Now (7-1 - 8-1)-1 - (3-1 - 4-1)-1 = 56 - 12 = 44
