The house is surrounded by a path 1 m wide.
We have to find the area of the living room.
Area of living room = area of rectangle ACGH - area of bedroom - area of bathroom
Considering rectangle ACGH,
Length = 4 + 2.5 = 6.5 m
Breadth = 3 + 3 = 6 m
Area = 6.5(6)
= 39 m²
Considering bedroom,
Length = 4 m
Breadth = 3 m
Area = 4(3)
= 12 m²
Considering bathroom,
Length = 2.5 m
Breadth = 2 m
Area = 2.5(2)
= 5 m²
Area of living room = 39 - 12 - 5
= 39 - 17
= 22 m²
Therefore, the area of the living room is 22 m².
