The pie chart gives the marks scored in an examination by a student in different subjects. If the total marks obtained were 540, answer the following questions-
(i) In which subject did the student score 105 marks?
(ii) How many more marks were obtained by the student in Mathematics than in Hindi?
Solution:
(i) given total marks = 540 = 360°
For 1 mark = 360/540
For 105 marks = 360/540 × 105=70
From the pie chart, we have 70°= Hindi subject
Therefore, in Hindi subject students scored 105 marks
(ii) In Hindi a student scored 105 marks
In Mathematics, 360/4 = 90 ; 540/4 = 135
Therefore, in Mathematics he scored 135 marks
Difference between Mathematics and Hindi is 135 - 105 = 30
