The order of rotational symmetry of a figure is 4 and the angle of rotation is 180° only. Is the given statement true or false?
Solution:
Let us consider the figure
If the given figure is rotated about 90° the shape remains the same.
So the angle of rotation is 90°
By rotating 90°, i.e. 4 times, on each turn the shape remains the same and returns back to its original position.
So the order of rotational symmetry is 4.
Therefore, the statement is false.
✦ Try This: The order of rotational symmetry of a figure is 5 and the angle of rotation is 240° only. Is the given statement true or false?
