The bar graph given below shows the marks of students of a class in a particular subject:
Study the bar graph and answer the following questions:
(a) If 40 is the pass mark, then how many students have failed?
(b) How many students got marks from 50 to 69?
(c) How many students scored 90 marks and above?
(d) If students who scored marks above 80 are given merits then how many merit holders are there?
(e) What is the strength of the class?
Solution:
Given, the bar graph shows the marks of students of a class in a particular subject.
(a) we have to find the number of students who failed, if 40 is the pass mark.
Number of students who scored below 40 i.e., 30 - 39 = 4
(b) We have to find the number of students who got 50 to 69 marks.
Number of students who scored 50 - 59 marks = 7
Number of students who scored 60 - 69 marks = 11
Number of students who scored 50 to 69 = 7 + 11 = 18
(c) We have to find the number of students who scored 90 marks and above.
Number of students who scored 90 - 92 = 4
(d) We have to find the number of merit holders, if students who scored marks above 80 are given merits.
Number of students who scored 80 - 89 marks = 6
Number of students who scored 90 - 92 marks = 4
Number of merit holders = 6 + 4 = 10
(e) We have to find the strength of the class.
Number of students who scored 30 - 39 marks = 4
Number of students who scored 40 - 49 marks = 2
Number of students who scored 50 - 59 marks = 7
Number of students who scored 60 - 69 marks = 11
Number of students who scored 70 - 79 marks = 8
Number of students who scored 80 - 89 marks = 6
Number of students who scored 90 - 92 marks = 4
Total number of students = 4 + 2 + 7 + 11 + 8 + 6 + 4
= 42
