Solution:
Given, the bar graph represents the circulation of newspapers (dailies) in a town in six languages.
(a) We have to find the total number of newspapers read in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Marathi and Tamil.
Number of Hindi newspaper = 800
Number of Punjabi newspaper = 400
Number of Urdu newspaper = 200
Number of Marathi newspaper = 300
Number of Tamil newspaper = 100
Total number of newspaper = 800 + 400 + 200 + 300 + 100
= 1200 + 600
= 1800
(b) We have to find the excess number of newspapers read in Hindi rather than those in English.
Number of Hindi newspaper = 800
Number of English newspaper = 500
Excess of Hindi newspaper = 800 - 500 = 300
(c) We have to name the language in which the least number of newspapers are read.
From the graph, we observe that the least number of newspapers read is Tamil newspapers.
(d) We have to write the total circulation of newspapers in the town.
Total number of newspapers in the town = 800 + 400 + 200 + 300 + 100 + 500
