The area of a trapezium become 4 times if its height gets doubled. Is the given statement true or false
Solution:
The area of a trapezium = 1/2 × (sum of parallel sides) × height(h)
If the height of the trapezium is doubled the area of trapezium will become:
The new area of trapezium = 1/2 × (sum of parallel sides) × 2[height(h)]
= 2 × [1/2 × (sum of parallel sides) × height(h)]
= 2 × [original height of trapezium]
Hence the area of the trapezium will get doubled.
The statement is therefore false.
✦ Try This: The area of a trapezium become 4 times if its height and parallel sides gets doubled. Is the given statement true or false
The area of a trapezium = 1/2 × (sum of parallel sides) × height(h)
If Parallel sides are doubled and height is doubled the new area is given by
The new area of trapezium = 1/2 × 2(sum of parallel sides) × 2[height(h)]
The new Area of trapezium = 4 × [1/2 × (sum of parallel sides) × height(h)]
The new Area of trapezium = 4 × [Original area of the trapezium]
Therefore the statement is True.
