The angles between North and East and North and West are
a. Complementary angles
b. Supplementary angles
c. Both acute angles
d. Both obtuse angles
Solution:
Given, the figure represents four directions.
We have to find the angles between North and East and North and West.
From the figure,
We observe that the angle between North and West is 90 degrees
Similarly, the angle between North and East is 90 degrees
Required angle = angle between North and East and North and West
= angle between North and East + angle between North and West
= 90° + 90°
= 180°
When the sum of the measures of two angles is 180°, the angles are called supplementary angles.
Each of them is called a supplement of the other.
Since the sum of angles is 180 degrees
Therefore, the required angle is supplementary angle.
