Subtract 2 (ab + bc + ca) from -ab - bc - ca
Solution:
Given, the expressions are 2 (ab + bc + ca) and -ab - bc - ca.
We have to subtract the expressions
2(ab + bc + ca) = 2ab + 2bc + 2ca
On subtracting the expressions,
= -ab - bc - ca - (2ab + 2bc + 2ca)
= -ab - bc - ca - 2ab - 2bc - 2ca
By combining the like terms,
= -ab - 2ab - bc - 2bc - ca - 2ca
= (-1 - 2)ab + (-1 - 2)bc + (-1 - 2)ca
= (-3)ab + (-3)bc + (-3)ca
= -3ab - 3bc - 3ca
Therefore, the required expression is -3ab - 3bc - 3ca.
✦ Try This: Subtract 3(ab + bc + ca) from -2ab - 2bc - ca
