Solve : [y - (4 - 3y)]/[2y - (3 + 4y)] = 1/5

Solution:

Given, the equation is [y - (4 - 3y)]/[2y - (3 + 4y)] = 1/5

We have to solve the equation.

y - (4 - 3y) = y - 4 + 3y

= 4y - 4

2y - (3 + 4y) = 2y - 3 - 4y

= -2y - 3

On solving the equation for y,

(4y-4)/(-2y-3) = 1/5

5(4y-4) = 1(-2y-3)

20y - 20 = -2y - 3

By transposing,

20y + 2y = -3 + 20

22y = 17

y = 17/22

Therefore, the solution is 17/22.
