Solve : x/2 - 1/4(x - 1/3) = 1/6 (x + 1) + 1/12
Solution:
Given, the equation is x/2 - 1/4(x - 1/3) = 1/6 (x + 1) + 1/12
We have to solve the equation.
On solving the equation for x,
x/2 - 1/4(x - 1/3) = 1/6 (x + 1) + 1/12
x/2 - 1/4 (x) + 1/4 (1/3) = 1/6 (x) + 1/6 + 1/12
x/2 - x/4 + 1/12 = x/6 + 1/6 + 1/12
By cancelling out common terms,
x/2 - x/4 = x/6 + 1/6
x(1/2 - 1/4) = x/6 + 1/6
x(1/4) = x/6 + 1/6
x/4 = x/6 + 1/6
By transposing,
x/4 - x/6 = 1/6
x(1/4 - 1/6) = 1/6
x(1/12) = 1/6
x/12 = 1/6
x = 12/6
x = 2
Therefore, the value of x is 2.
