Solve : (x + 1)/4 = (x - 2)/3
Solution:
Given, the equation is (x + 1)/4 = (x - 2)/3
We have to solve the equation
On solving the equation for x,
(x + 1)/4 = (x - 2)/3
3(x + 1) = 4(x - 2)
3(x) + 3(1) = 4(x) - 4(2)
3x + 3 = 4x - 8
By transposing,
3x - 4x = -8 - 3
x(3 - 4) = -11
-x = -11
x = 11
Therefore, the value of x is 11.
