Solve the following: (1/2)⁻² ÷ (1/2)⁻³
Solution:
Given, the expression is (1/2)⁻² × (1/2)⁻³
We have to solve the expression.
Using law of exponents,
am ÷ an = am - n
From the given expression,
a = (1/2)
m = -2
n = -3
So, m - n = -2 - (-3)
= -2 + 3
= 1
Therefore, (1/2)⁻² ÷ (1/2)⁻³ = 1/2.
