Solve the equation a - 15 = 25 and state which axiom do you use here
Solution:
Given, the equation is a - 15 = 25
We have to solve the equation and state which axiom is used here.
Using Euclid’s second axiom,
If equals are added to the equals, the wholes are equal.
On adding 15 on both the sides of the equation,
a - 15 + 15 = 25 + 15
a = 25 + 15
a = 40
Therefore, the solution of the equation is a = 40
✦ Try This: Solve the equation b - 10 = 15 and state which axiom do you use here.
Given, the equation is b - 10 = 15
We have to solve the equation and state which axiom is used here.
Using Euclid’s second axiom,
If equals are added to the equals, the wholes are equal.
On adding 10 on both the sides of the equation,
b - 10 + 10 = 15 + 10
b = 15 + 10
b = 25
Therefore, the solution of the equation is b = 25.
