Given, the numbers are 5/13 and -8/26

We have to solve the numbers

5/13 - (-8/26) = 5/13 + 8/26

Taking LCM,

26 = 13 × 2

LCM of 13 and 26 = 13 × 2 = 26

So, 5/13 = 5 × 2 / 13 × 2 = 10/26

Now, 5/13 + 8/26 = 10/26 + 8/26

Since the numbers have same denominator, we get

= (10 + 8)/26

= 18/26

= 9/13

Therefore, the required value is 9/13
