Simplify the following: 3/√8 + 1/√2
Solution:
Given, the expression is 3/√8 + 1/√2
We have to simplify the expression.
3/√8 + 1/√2 = 3/√4×2 + 1/√2
Taking out common terms,
= 1/√2(3/√4 + 1)
= 1/√2(3/2 + 1)
= 1/√2((3+2)/2)
= 1/√2(5/2)
= 5/2√2
Rationalising the denominator,
5/2√2 = 5/2√2 × √2/√2
= 5√2/4
Therefore, 3/√8 + 1/√2 = 5√2/4
✦ Try This: Simplify the following: 2/√5 + 7/√5
