Simplify: [(3/4)x - (4/3)y]² + 2xy
Solution:
Given, [(3/4)x - (4/3)y]² + 2xy
Using standard identity: (a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b²
Here, a = (3/4)x and b = (4/3)y
[(3/4)x - (4/3)y]² + 2xy ⇒ [(3/4)x]² - 2((3/4)x) ((4/3)y) + [(4/3)y]² + 2xy
= (9x²/16) - 2xy + (16y²/9) + 2xy
= (9x²/16) + (16y²/9)
✦ Try This: Simplify: [(5/3)p - (3/5)q]² + 4pq
Given, [(5/3)p - (3/5)b]² + 4pq
Using standard identity: (a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b²
Here, a = (5/3)p and b = (3/5)q
= [(5/3)p - (3/5)q]² + 4pq
= (25p²/9) - 2pq + (9q²/25) + 4pq
= (25p²/9) + 2pq + (9q²/25)
