Shiv works in a mall and gets paid ₹50 per hour. Last week he worked for 7 hours and this week he will work for x hours. Write an algebraic expression for the money paid to him for both the weeks
Solution:
Given, Shiv works in a mall and gets paid ₹50 per hour.
Last week, Shiv worked for 7 hours
This week, he will work for x hours
We have to write an algebraic expression for the money paid to him for both the weeks.
Pay received by Shiv for working one hour = ₹50
Pay received for working 7 hours = 7 × 50
= ₹350
So, last week Shiv worked for 7 hours and gets paid ₹350
Pay received for working x hours = x × 50
= 50x
So, this week Shiv worked for x hours and gets paid ₹50x
Money paid to him for both the weeks = pay received for working 7 hours + pay received for working x hours
= 350 + 50x
= ₹50(7 + x)
Therefore, the algebraic expression is 50(7 + x).
