Sanchay put a 1cm stick of gum through a (1 × 3⁻²) machine. How long was the stick when it came out?
Solution:
Sanchay put a 1 cm stick of gum through a (1 × 3⁻²) machine.
We have to find the length of the stick when it comes out.
According to the question,
Input = 1 cm
Workdone = (1 × 3⁻²)
Using the law of exponents,
a⁻ⁿ = 1/aⁿ
So, 3⁻² = 1/3²
= 1/9
Output = 1 × 1/9
= 1/9 cm
Therefore, the length of the stick will be 1/9 cm.
