(a) From a pack of cards the following cards are kept face down: Suhail wins if he picks up a face card. Find the probability of Suhail winning?
(b) Now the following cards are added to the above cards:
What is the probability of Suhail winning now? Reshma wins if she picks up a 4. What is the probability of Reshma winning? [Queen, King and Jack cards are called face cards.]
Solution:
(a) There are 7 cards in total I which 1 is face card and 6 are number cards
For suhail to win, he must pick a face card
Probability of getting face card is 1/7
Hence, probability of suhail to win is 1/7
(b) Now if some other cards are also added to existing cards, we have 15 cards in total.
We have 4 face cards
Hence probability of Suhail to win is 4/15
We have 4 cards with 4 written on them.
So, probability of Reshma winning is 4/15
