Of the four quadrilaterals— square, rectangle, rhombus and trapezium— one is somewhat different from the others because of its design. Find it and give justification.
Solution:
Given, four quadrilaterals are square, rectangle, rhombus and trapezium.
The four quadrilaterals are different from each other because of their design.
We have to find the difference and justify it.
A square is a two-dimensional plane figure with four equal sides.
There are only two diagonals of the square and they bisect each other at right angles.
A rectangle is a closed two-dimensional figure with four sides.
The opposite sides of a rectangle are equal and parallel to each other.
All angles are equal to 90 degrees.
The diagonals of a rectangle are equal.
In a rhombus, opposite sides are parallel and the opposite angles are equal.
All the sides of a rhombus are equal in length, and the diagonals bisect each other at right angles.
A trapezium is a two-dimensional quadrilateral having a pair of parallel opposite sides.
The opposite parallel sides are referred to as the base and the non-parallel sides are referred to as legs of the trapezium.
It is a closed plane shape having four sides and four corners.
In square, rectangle and rhombus, the opposite sides and opposite angles are equal.
So, square, rectangle and rhombus are parallelograms.
In trapezium only one pair of sides are parallel.
Therefore, trapezium is not a parallelogram and has a different design.

Summary:
Of the four quadrilaterals— square, rectangle, rhombus and trapezium— one is somewhat different from the others because of its design. Square, rectangle and rhombus are parallelograms and have the same design whereas trapezium is not a parallelogram and has a different design.
