Meeta saves ₹ 4000 from her salary. If this is 10% of her salary. What is her salary?

Solution:

Percentage is a fraction or a ratio in which the value of whole is always 100. 

Let Meeta's total salary be Rs. A.

10% of A is given as 4000

Thus,10/100 × A = 4000

⇒ A = 4000 × 100/10

⇒ A  = 40000

Thus, her total salary is Rs. 40000.
