Measures (in degrees) of two supplementary angles are consecutive odd integers. Find the angles.
Solution:
Given, measures of two supplementary angles are consecutive odd integers.
We have to find the angles.
Let the two consecutive odd integers be x and x+2.
When the sum of the measures of two angles is 180°, the angles are called supplementary angles.
So, x + x + 2 = 180°
2x + 2 = 180°
2x = 180° - 2
2x = 178°
x = 178°/2
x = 89°
Now, x + 2 = 89 + 2 = 91°
Therefore, the angles are 89° and 91°.
