Madhulika thought of a number, doubled it and added 20 to it. On dividing the resulting number by 25, she gets 4. What is the number
Solution:
Madhulika thought of a number, doubled it and added 20 to it.
On dividing the resulting number by 25, she gets 4.
We have to find the number.
Let the number be x.
On doubling the number and adding 20 to it, she gets 2x + 20
So, the resulting number is 2x + 20
Dividing the resulting number by 25, she gets 4
(2x + 20)/25 = 4
2x + 20 = 4(25)
2x + 20 = 100
2x = 100 - 20
2x = 80
x = 80/2
x = 40
Therefore, the required number is 40.
