Insert a rational number and an irrational number between 2.357 and 3.121
Solution:
Given, the numbers are 2.357 and 3.121
Rational numbers are numbers which are in the form of p/q, where q is not equal to 0, p and q are integers.
Irrational numbers are numbers which are in decimal form.
To find a rational number R, we use the formula,
R = (p + q)/2
Let p = 2.357 and q = 3.121, we get,
R = (2.357 + 3.121)/2
R = (5.478)/2
R = 2.748.
To find an irrational number Q, we use the formula,
Q = √pq,
where p and q are not perfect squares.
Q = √2.357(3.121)
Q = 2.7225677218..
Therefore, the rational number is 2.748 and the irrational number is 2.7225677218.
