Insert a rational number and an irrational number between 0 and 0.1
Solution:
Given, the numbers 0 and 0.1
Rational numbers are numbers which are in the form of p/q, where q is not equal to 0, p and q are integers.
Irrational numbers are numbers which are in decimal form.
To find a rational number R, we use the formula,
R = (p + q)/2
Let p = 0 and q = 0.1, we get,
p + q = 0 + 0.1
= 0.1
R = 0.1/2
R = 0.05
To find an irrational number Q, we use the formula,
Q = √pq
where p and q are not perfect squares.
Q = √(0)0.1
Q = 0
As 0 is a rational number let us consider 0.007000700007… as the irrational number.
Therefore, the rational number is 0.05 and the irrational number is 0.007000700007…
