Insert 3 equivalent rational numbers between -1/2 and 1/5.
Solution:
A rational number is a number that is of the form p/q where p and q are integers and q is not equal to 0.
The given rational numbers are
-1/2 and 1/5
To get a common denominator
LCM of 2 and 5 is 10
So we get
(-1 × 5)/ (2 × 5) = -5/10
(1 × 2)/ (5 × 2) = 2/10
So the 3 rational numbers will be -3/10, -6/20, -9/30
Therefore, the 3 equivalent rational numbers are -3/10, -6/20 and -9/30.
