In ∆ PQR, ∠P = 70° and ∠R = 30°. Which side of this triangle is the longest? Give reason for your answer.
Solution:
It is given that
∠P = 70°
∠R = 30°
From the angle sum property
∠P + ∠Q + ∠R = 180°
Substituting the values
70° + ∠Q + 30° = 180°
∠Q + 100° = 180°
So we get
∠Q = 180° - 100°
∠Q = 80° is the greatest angle
The opposite side PR is the longest side.
Therefore, the side PR of this triangle is the longest.
