In Fig. 9.29 ratio of the area of triangle ABC to the area of triangle ACD is the same as the ratio of base BC of triangle ABC to the base CD of triangle ACD. Is the given statement true or false?
Solution:
Given, the ratio of the area of triangle ABC to the area of triangle ACD is the same as the ratio of base BC of triangle ABC to the base CD of triangle ACD.
We have to determine if the given statement is true or false.
Area of triangle = 1/2 × base × height
Area of triangle ABC = 1/2 × BC × AC
Area of triangle ACD = 1/2 × CD × AC
Area of triangle ABC : Area of triangle ACD = (1/2 × BC × AC) : (1/2 × CD × AC)
= BC : CD
Therefore, the base of triangle ABC is the same as the base of the triangle ACD.
✦ Try This: Find the perimeter of triangle with sides 8 cm, 9 cm and 10 cm.
Given, the sides of a triangle are 8 cm, 9 cm and 10 cm.
We have to find the perimeter of triangle
Perimeter of triangle = sum of all sides
= 8 + 9 + 10
= 27 cm
Therefore, the perimeter of the triangle is 27 cm.
