If the distance travelled by a rickshaw in one hour is 10 km, then the distance travelled by the same rickshaw with the same speed in one minute is
(a) 250/9 m
(b) 500/9 m
(c) 1000 m
(d) 500/3 m
Solution:
Let the speed of the rickshaw = s km/h
Distance Travelled by rickshaw in one hour = s × 1 = 10 km
Hence the speed of the rickshaw (s) = 10km/hour
The Speed in metres/minute = 10 × 1000/(1 × 60) [1Km = 1000m & 1 hour = 60minutes]
Speed = 500/3 m/minute
Distance Travelled by rickshaw in one minute = 500/3 × 1 = 500/3 m
✦ Try This: If the distance travelled by a rickshaw in two hours is 15 km, then the distance travelled by the same rickshaw with the same speed in two minute is: (a) 250 m, (b) 500/9 m, (c) 250/3 m, (d) 500/3 m
Let the speed of the rickshaw = s km/h
Distance Travelled by rickshaw in one hour = s × 2 = 15 km
Hence the speed of the rickshaw (s) = 15/2 km/hour = 7.5 Km
The Speed in metres/minute = 7 .5 × 1000/(1 × 60) [1Km = 1000m & 1 hour = 60minutes]
Speed = 125 m/minute
Distance Travelled by rickshaw in two minutes = 125 × 2 = 250 m
