If the area of a face of a cube is 10 cm² , then the total surface area of the cube is __________
Solution:
A cube has six faces with all edges equal as shown below.
The area of any one face = s²
The total surface area of the cube = 6 × area of any of the six surfaces of the the cube
The total surface area of the cube = 6s²
If s² = 10cm²
Therefore total surface area of the cube = 6×10cm² = 60cm²
✦ Try This: If the side of a cube is 6cm , then the total surface area of the cube is________.
If the edge of the cube is of length = s
Then the surface area of the cube = 6s²
If s = 6
Surface area of the cube = 6(6)² = 6 × 36 = 216 cm²
If the side of a cube is 6cm , then the total surface area of the cube is 216cm².
