If a linear equation has solutions (-2, 2), (0, 0) and (2, -2), then it is of the form
a. y - x = 0
b. x + y = 0
c. -2x + y = 0
d. -x + 2y = 0
Solution:
The points (-2, 2), (0, 0) and (2, - 2) are the solutions of the linear equation
We know that
y = mx + c is the equation of a line
As (0, 0) lies on it, c = 0
As (-2, 2) lies on it,
2 = -2 (m)
m = -1
So we get
y = -x
x + y = 0 is the equation of the line.
Therefore, the linear equation is x + y = 0.
✦ Try This: If a linear equation has solutions (-1, 1), (0, 0) and (1, - 1), then it is of the form a. y - x = 0, b. x + y = 0, c. -2x + y = 0, d. -x + 2y = 0
