If 9 is the solution of variable x in the equation (5x - 7)/2 = y, then the value of y is 28. Is the following statement true or false
Solution:
Let’s put x = 9 in the equation (5x - 7)/2 = y
[5(9) - 7]/2 = y
[45 - 7]/2 = y
y = 38/2
y = 19
Hence, if 9 is the solution of variable x in the equation (5x - 7)/2 = y, then the value of y is 9. False.
✦ Try This: If 5 is the solution of variable x in the equation (5x - 7)/2 = y, then the value of y is 14.
Let’s put x = 5 the equation (5x - 7)/2 = y
[5(5) - 7]/2 = y
[25 - 7]/2 = y
y = 18/2
y = 9
Hence, if 5 is the solution of variable x in the equation (5x - 7)/2 = y, then the value of y is 14. False.
