If 756x is divisible by 11, where x is a digit. Find the value of x.
Solution:
If 756x is divisible by 11 then
7 + 6 - (5 + x) = 0
x = 13 - 5 = 8
The other rule is
7 + 6 - 5 - x = 11
x = 7 + 6 - 5 - 11 = -3
x = -3 is not valid.
Therefore x = 8
✦ Try This: If 948x is divisible by 11, where x is a digit find the value of x.
If 948x is divisible by 11 then
9 + 8 - (4 + x) = 0
x = 17 - 4 = 13
x cannot be two digit hence this option is invalid
The other rule is
9 + 8 - 4 - x = 11
x = 9 + 8 - 4 - 11 = 2
x = 2
