I have three sides. One of my angles measures 15°. Another has a measure of 60°. What kind of a polygon am I? If I am a triangle, then what kind of triangle am I?
Solution:
Given, a polygon with three sides is a triangle.
One of the angles measure 15°
Another angle measures 60°
We have to find the type of triangle.
Consider a triangle ABC,
Angle sum property of a triangle states that the sum of all three interior angles of a triangle is always equal to 180 degrees.
∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°
∠A + 15° + 60° = 180°
∠A + 75° = 180°
∠A = 180° - 75°
∠A = 105°
An obtuse angle is defined as an angle that is greater than 90° and less than 180° i.e 90° to 180°.
Since 105 degrees is greater than 90 degrees, angle A is an obtuse angle.
Therefore, the given triangle is an obtuse angled triangle.
