How many rational numbers are there between two rational numbers?
(a) 1
(b) 0
(c) unlimited
(d) 100
Solution:
We have to find how many rational numbers are there between two rational numbers
If the numerator and denominator of a rational number are multiplied or divided by a non-zero integer, we get a rational number which is said to be equivalent to the given rational number.
Infinite number of rational numbers can be inserted between two rational numbers.
For example, consider 1/5 and 9/5
Between these numbers, we can insert other rational numbers like 2/5, 3/5, 4/5,......8/5
On multiplying numerator and denominator by 10,
10/50 and 90/50
We can insert other rational numbers like 11/50, 12/50, 13/50, …………..89/50
Therefore, there are an unlimited number of rational numbers between two rational numbers.
