Solution:
Harish bought a gas-chullah for ₹900 and later sold it to Archana at a profit of 5 per cent. Archana used it for a period of two years and later sold it to Babita at a loss of 20 per cent.
We have to find how much did Babita get.
According to the question,
CP of gas-chullah bought by Harish = ₹900
Harish sold chullah to Archana at a profit of 5%
CP of chullah for Archana = 900 + 5% of 900
= 900 + (5/100) × 900
= 900 + 5(9)
CP of gas-chullah for Archana = ₹945
CP of Babita = 945 - 20% of 945
= 945 - (20/100) × 945
= 945 - 945/5
= 945 - 189
CP = ₹756
Therefore, Babita got ₹756 for gas-chullah.
