Given AB of length 3.9 cm, construct PQ such that the length of PQ is twice that of AB. Verify by measurement
(Hint : Construct PX such that the length of PX= length of AB; then cut off XQ such that XQ also has the length of AB.)
Solution:
With the help of a ruler and a compass, we can draw a line segment by following steps:
Steps of construction:
Step 1: Draw a line l of suitable length and mark a point P on it.
Step 2: Draw the given line segment AB of 3.9 cm.
Step.3: Open the compasses up to the length of AB, from point P draw an arc to cut the line at X.
Step 4: Similarly, place the pointer of a compass on point X, draw an arc that cuts line l at point Q.
PQ is the required line segment.
With the help of a ruler, we can measure the length of PQ. It will measure 7.8 cm.
NCERT Solutions for Class 6 Maths Chapter 14 Exercise 14.2 Question 4
Given AB of length 3.9 cm, construct PQ such that the length of PQ is twice that of AB. Verify by measurement. (Hint : Construct PX such that the length of PX= length of AB; then cut off XQ such that XQ also has the length of AB.)
Summary:
PQ is the required length which comes 7.8 cm. As, it it was given that the length of PQ is twice that of length AB.
